No — in New Zealand, hard-wired appliances like ovens and cooktops must be connected by a registered electrician and certified. It's not just the law; an incorrectly sized circuit or loose connection behind an oven is a genuine fire risk. We connect it, test it, and issue the certificate.
A straightforward connection to an existing, suitable circuit is usually a short hourly-rate job. If your new appliance draws more power than the old one — common when switching to induction — a new dedicated circuit may be needed, which we'll quote upfront before starting.
Yes — we mount and wire rangehoods, including running a new power point in the cavity if there isn't one. For ducted models, we can coordinate with your builder or kitchen installer on the duct run so extraction actually vents outside, not into your ceiling cavity.
Yes. Induction cooktops often need a heavier circuit than an old ceramic or gas-with-ignition setup. We'll check your switchboard capacity, run the correctly sized cable, and add the right protection. If the switchboard itself is full or outdated, we'll quote an upgrade too.
