FAQ
Extractor Fan Installation Costs & Questions
Every shower pumps litres of moisture into the air. Without extraction it condenses on walls and ceilings, feeding mould and damaging paint and gib. A correctly sized fan ducted to the outside removes that moisture at the source — and it's a Healthy Homes requirement for rental bathrooms without an opening window.
It depends on the fan type, ceiling access, and duct run. A standard ceiling-mounted bathroom fan with a straightforward duct run is typically a half-day job — we'll give you a fixed quote after seeing the space or photos.
Yes — we can wire fans to run with the light switch, on a run-on timer that keeps extracting after you leave, or with a humidity sensor that switches on automatically when moisture rises. For rentals, automated options mean the fan actually gets used.
Yes. Venting warm, moist air into the ceiling cavity moves the moisture problem rather than fixing it, and can cause condensation and mould in your roof space. We duct every fan we install to the outside through the roof, eave or wall.
No — an extractor fan removes moisture from a single room like a bathroom or kitchen, while a whole-home ventilation system manages air quality and moisture throughout the house. Many homes benefit from both. See our ventilation systems page if you're dealing with condensation through the whole home.
