Only some small plug-and-play spas are designed for a standard 10A socket — and even then the socket needs RCD protection and must be suitably located. Most spas need a dedicated hard-wired circuit with its own isolation switch. Check your spa's requirements, or send us the model and we'll tell you what it needs.
A typical dedicated spa circuit runs from a few hundred dollars to over a thousand depending on the distance from your switchboard, whether trenching is needed, and your board's spare capacity. We'll quote it as a fixed price after a site look.
NZ standards define zones around pools and spas where equipment, outlets and switches are restricted or must meet special ratings. All circuits need RCD protection and an accessible isolating switch. It's specialised work — and it must be done by a registered electrician and certified.
