Ensure you are getting the right size heat pump

There are many factors to sizing a heat pump and we can help ensure you are going to get your rooms to the temperature that you are aiming for.

What type will work best with your house?

Houses have such different layouts, roof space, external space, and other factors that change what you can and can't do with an installation.

What is the best type to use in a standard house?

Our most popular heat pump is a split system. The high wall system has a unit inside, and a unit outside. The indoor unit should be as close as possible to the outdoor (ideally up to 10m). The closer it is the more efficient it will be.

What are the brands you recommend?

We have certain brands because we like them. We know they work well, they are reliable, they install well, and people are happy with them. Mitsubishi Electric is the top-shelf for price, and the cheapest is Rinnai / Gree.

Choosing the Right Heat Pump for Your Northland Home

If you’re considering a heat pump for your home in Northland, New Zealand, you’re in a great position—Northland’s mild, temperate climate makes it ideal for heat pump efficiency. Still, there are several key factors to weigh when deciding which type is right for you.
1. Climate SuitabilityNorthland’s warm summers and mild winters mean that our range of split system heat pumps are an excellent choice. These systems work efficiently in moderate conditions, offering reliable year-round heating and cooling without the need for more complex or expensive systems like ground-source heat pumps.
2. Home Size and LayoutThe size and layout of your home matter. For open-plan homes or smaller spaces, a single wall-mounted split system may be enough. For larger homes or those with multiple rooms needing individual climate control, a multi-split system or ducted heat pump may be more suitable.
3. Insulation and Sun ExposureNorthland homes often benefit from good natural light and warmth, but insulation is still key. A well-insulated home retains heat better, meaning your heat pump won’t have to work as hard—saving you energy and money.
4. Existing SetupIf your home lacks the ability to install ductwork around the ceiling or underfloor, wall-mounted or floor console units are easy to install and effective. Renovations or new builds might allow for ducted systems, offering a more seamless look and even airflow.
5. Energy Efficiency and CostModern inverter heat pumps offer excellent energy efficiency, especially in mild climates like Northland’s. Be sure to check the energy rating and consider models that qualify for EECA rebates or electricity provider discounts.
